The sewer water probably carries the most types of diseases and bacteria than any other place. You can never be careful enough. To prevent sewer back ups, you should get your sewer line snaked as a preventative measure. The following sewer was clogged due to tampons and grease. Our mechanic had to snake the line a few times before it unclogged. While the mechanic was snaking the sewer, the rain water kept bringing in more water, putting pressure on the mechanic to unclog the sewer before the customers basement got flooded. Our mechanics are always concerned about our customers, and this mechanic is no different. He unclogged the sewer before it could overflow and cause damage to the customers basement.

Clogged sewer is a problem that people want to avoid, since a clogged sewer means, smell and sewage. The following video shows that a clogged sewer line can build up quite a bit of a pressure. In this case, the sewer back caused water to backup into the back yard, floor drains, basement shower and the basement toilet. If the mechanics had not kept his hands on the cap, the sewer water probably would have been all over him. It is very important to be careful while opening the sewer caps. In rare cases you can get injured if you get hit by the sewer cap.

As the expressions of the audience showed, they never in a million years would have though that Susan Boyle would sing like that. Simply amazing.

[dailymotion]http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8ymn0_susan-boyle-on-britains-got-talent_music[/dailymotion]
We can relate our sewer service to the surprise the judges and the audience got, many of our customers do not believe our prices until we actually do the job. Many other sewer and drain companies simply wonder how and why we have kept our prices so low for so long. It will be 14 years in June 2009. Our answer is simple, “keep the customers happy and have them coming back again and again.” We love to see our customers save money by using our services.
We use similar equipment, if not better, as used by sewer and drain companies across the United States. We guarantee all work we do and the best part is, we do not charge extra for jobs done on weekends, nights or holidays. Any hour of the day and any day of the week, A$49.95 Any Sewer or Drain, Inc will unclog your sewer or drain and charge you $49.95 for any one sewer or drain.

Sewer pipes usually last decades before collapsing or shifting but with trees on the sidewalks and front lawn, the chances of a sewer line getting messed up rise a little bit. The sewer line is usually ignored by home owners until there is a problem. This is almost like driving a car without changing the engine oil until the car asks for an oil change. This can only go on for a certain period of time, but when the car gets old timely oil change becomes more important.
Same with the sewer lines, as the sewer pipe gets old it needs constant and timely attention. You need to do this especially if you have tree root problem. For old pipes, it is not only tree roots that cause trouble, over the years water running through the sewer line erodes the sewer line and dirt starts to fill up in the sewer line. This is not a problem obviously, until the sewer gets clogged and the home owner has to change the sewer line.

Home owners have an option to find out the health of their sewer line. Sewer cameras have been around for a while, many municipalities use robotic sewer cameras to inspect the city and county sewer system.
If you are having constant back ups due to roots or muck stoppages, you might want to consider a camera inspection for your sewer line. This will eliminate the guess work and you will see exactly what is in your pipe and how your sewer pipe looks from inside. Here are a few videos of camera inspections we performed recently. Some camera inspections were requested by the customers and others were recommended by our technicians.

THE COST TO UNCLOG ANY ONE SEWER OR DRAIN IS $49.95!

Many customers are amazed when we tell them our price right over the phone. They always wonder why their previous sewer guy had to come take a look at the drain before he ever gave a price and the bad part was that the previous service they used, kept increasing the price for the same drain that was done by them last time.

At A$49.95 Any Sewer or Drain, Inc. our name is our price, we know what we have to do when a customer calls and complains about a sewer back up or a sink clog or a toilet clog or a vanity sink clog. We have been unclogging sewers and drains for many years and there should not be any need to “quote” a price until or unless the job is beyond a normal cleaning process. With thousands of jobs that we perform every month, we hardly see any job that requires a quote, infact our customers have a check written out for us before we walk in their house because they know how much they have to pay even before we start the job, you guessed it, $49.95.

We have started the trend of having set prices for sewer and drain cleaning services. These days there are a few other companies that basically have copied us and portray themselves as “Any Sewer or Drain”. Please look for the yellow splash on our white trucks for the Original $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain. Even if you do get to use the imitators make sure you pay $49.95 for any one sewer or drain.

Double sinks are not that common but every once in a while we do see them. The pipes under double sinks are connected slightly different than that of a single sink. The thing to keep in mind is, even if you have double sinks or a single sink, the pipes will be connected to a single stackline. Connecting the pipes to a single stackline is way more convenient and cost effective than having multiple stacklines. If you look at the bottom of your double sinks you will clearly see that the traps under both sides of the double sink somehow are connected. If you cannot visually see the pipes connecting, then they more than likely connect behind the wall.
Now, if only one of the sinks is clogged and the other one is running fine, then you can successfully unclog it with a plunger. If the plunger does not work, it means you have an object in the pipe. To remove the object, simply take apart the pipes under the side that is clogged, and clear the pipe. We usually find spoons, rice, bones or grease buildup. Once you clear the pipes, both sides of the double sink should work.
Now, If both sides of the double sink are running slow or are clogged, you can still try the plunger. But, you have to make sure you plug one of the sinks and plunge the other side. You have to plug one of the sinks because plunging one side without plugging the other side would simply cause the water to be pushed up on the unplugged side. If the plunger does not work, you can try other home remedies we have listed in other posts. If all that does not work, you have to get a snake and unclog the sink.
Snaking a double sink is not too different than snaking a single sink. Just be careful taking the pipes apart. It is sometimes difficult to put the pipes together under a double sink. If you have any issues related to your sewer and drain needs, you can always contact us.
Thank you

Old grease traps, that are in place in all restaurants, do the job of trapping grease pretty good but are not too efficient. The grease causes clogs and extra maintenance for restaurants. Extra maintenance means extra expense and plus money spent on pipes getting clogged due to grease build up. Here we are about to describe a new patent pending technology with which the grease is separated from water. Three Bears Environmental Inc is an exclusive dealer of the Goslyn in the North East. Here is the description of the product.

Well, let’s first make very clear what it is NOT!

• The Goslyn™ is NOT a grease trap.
• It is NOT a grease interceptor.

So, if it is not a grease trap or a grease interceptor, what is a Goslyn™?

Well, a Goslyn™ IS … an “Automatic Grease Removal Device.”Goslyn™ has been extremely well received by many cities, municipalities and commercial food service customers throughout the country. And why? Because the water and FOG (fats, oils, and greases) that is generated in a food service environment is normally allowed to go down an operator’s drain. There are many solids that often make their way into the drainage system as well. All of this is not very good!

So, how does the Goslyn™ make it “better?”

First, the Goslyn™ captures any unwanted solids with its built-in strainer basket. The remaining liquid effluent then makes its way through the Goslyn™ “system” where oil is continuously and very efficiently separated from the water. The separated oil is captured in a holding tank while the “clean” water is discharged into the sewer system. The water that makes its way through the Goslyn™ system and down the drain has less than 100 PPM of FOG. Many operators are using this system to separate chicken fat from the water being discharged from a rotisserie oven (the oven that is used to cook the chickens) while others have them installed under a three compartment sink — where a huge percentage of FOG enters the drainage system.

The Goslyn™ is not like ‘other’ grease recovery devices!

The Goslyn™ is always on! It continuously and permanently removes the recovered oil. It does not rely on wheels, skimmers or timers. Because it is always on, it is always working. The FOG is not allowed to build up inside the system which would lead to reduced operating efficiency. Instead, the Goslyn™ is always working at its peak operating capacity. What about approvals?

From an approval perspective, the only US Standard in existence for a grease removal device is “ASME A112.14.4 – Grease Removal Devices.” This “code” requires that grease removal devices must first pass “ASME A112.14.3 Grease Interceptors” in order to establish the flow rating for the device under test. The Goslyn™ has been certified by the NSF Testing Agency to meet both of these forementioned standards. The Plumbing and Drainage Institute (PDI) standard PDI G101 was developed in 1942 and is almost identical to ASME A112.14.3. However, PDI has not developed a standard for Automatic
Grease Removal Devices. IAPMO is a testing agency that will test to PDI and ASME standards and does not have its own
standard for grease removal devices.

This device has received positive feedback from our customers who had been using conventional grease traps.
For more information on this device, please contact Three Bears Environmental.

If you are going to try and unclog your sewer line, you should know the length of your sewer line. Why? Because your sewer line could be lets say, 100ft long, and the snake you are using has a length of 50ft. If the clog is within 50ft, you are in luck and you might try to use the same length all the time. But, if your clog builds up further down the pipe, the 50ft snake definitely will not work. You either will need to attach another snake or use a longer snake all together. Generally, the sewer length is less than 75ft. That is, from your house trap out to the city sewer connection. In some cases, the sewers run longer than 75ft and can even run upto 150-200ft. The longer the sewer pipe, the more access points it generally has.
You can basically guess the length of your sewer line. Check to see if your house trap is towards the front of house or towards the rear of the house. If the main house trap is by the front, then guess or measure the distance from the front of the house to pretty much the center of the street.
If your main sewer trap is towards the back of the house, then you have to guess or measure the length from the back of the house to center of the street, and add a few more extra feet to cover for turns the sewer pipe makes. As we have stated in previous posts, the longer the sewer line is or the further the clog is, the harder it is to unclog the pipe. If you live in Queens, Brooklyn or The Bronx, your sewer lines should pretty much be less than 50ft (Most cases). If you live in Nassau or Suffolk counties, your sewer line should be pretty much between 50-75ft(most cases). Some houses do have sewers that are 100ft or longer and those homeowners should be more agressive in keeping their sewers maintained, to avoid tough back ups.

Many customers ask us about the type of toilet paper they should use. Technically speaking, if your toilet bowl and your sewer lines are powerful and large enough to handle any type of toilet paper then, by all means use any type of toilet paper. But if your toilet does not have a power flush (majority of toilet bowls are not power flush bowls) and your sewer is a normal size sewer (normally household and many commercial sewer lines are 4″-6″ in diameter) than you should really be careful with what goes down your toilet. keep in mind, it may be able to flush down the toilet bowl but it can very well end up clogging your sewer system.
Using a single ply toilet paper is recommended because the tissue dissolves in water and is easily carried through the sewer system. Thicker toilet papers, wipes, napkins, paper towels etc may be able able to pass through the toilet sometimes, without clogging it, but if a number of such items make their way into the sewer line, they can clog up the sewer line.
We can’t recommend any particular brand, but if you want to reduce the chances of having a clog in your sewer or your toilet, then use a single ply toilet paper. We had conducted a survey about the biggest reason why toilets get clogged. Our mechanics found that mostly thick toilet paper and “flushable” wipes are the a major reason.
Customers who followed our advice and changed their toilet paper to a single ply toilet paper saw a reduced toilet and sewer back-ups. We hope you have reduced toilet and sewer back-ups, but if you ever have a toilet or a sewer backup, you can always call us. We are available to serve you in Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Nassau and Suffolk 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
