Everyday millions of people face clogged sewers and drains on the planet Earth. Almost all of those people know that unclogging the sewer line is not rocket science, but recently rocket scientists who happened to be in orbit faced a problem with their toilet. We can only speculate what clogged the toilet on a space shuttle, but whatever clogged the toilet, it is another proof that a crowded toilet is bound to get clogged even if it is a space toilet. Apparently the space station is over crowded and the toilet bowl could not handle the extra traffic.

(AP) — “The bathroom lines at the already crowded space shuttle and space station complex got a lot longer Sunday because of a flooded toilet. The pump separator apparently flooded.”

Sewer Clog results in major damage if not taken care of immediately. In many instances a home owner has to deal with a basement flooded along with a clogged sewer. Most of the time a sewer backs up without any warning and the clog is seen as a surprise by the home owner. To avoid these unpleasant surprises a home owner can take preemptive measures, such as:

Avoid pouring grease in the drains

Avoid flushing napkins, paper towels and other sanitary items

Get the sewer line electrically cleaned to cut tree roots grown in the sewer line

Make sure you have easy access to your house trap

Can a toilet cause a clog in a sewer pipe?

Toilets use a lot of water and many times certain items are flushed down the toilet that can end up clogging the main sewer line. This is not the most common reason why sewers get clogged. Sewer clogs occur due to many reasons and toilet bowls can be blamed about 10% of time according to our mechanics in the field.
Most of the times toilets get clogged due to paper products and when a clogged toilet is unclogged the clog moves down the line and may result in a sewer clog. Paper towels, disposable and cloth diapers and feminine products cause many problems in the sewer main. These products do not deteriorate quickly. They should be disposed of in the garbage.

You might have heard of rats coming out of toilet bowls and sewer lines but might not have seen a rat coming out of a bowl. Here are 10 videos of rats coming out a toilet or a sewer line.

10) Rat coming out of the toilet and slipped right out.

9) Big fat rat in a toilet.

This was foul. Someone flushed a dead rat down the toilet.

7) Rat coming right out of the toilet!

6) This seems like a made up video, but there is a rat in in the toilet.

5) Thats a big fat rat in the toilet bowl!

4) This rat came out the toilet too, but was transferred to this tank.

3) This rat came out of the toilet and crawled out of the toilet and took a walk around the bathroom.

2) Another rat crawled up a toilet.

1) This is not a classic rat in toilet video but this is something not many people might have seen before….

All the videos were compiled because many customers sent us emails asking whether rats really do crawl up toilets. Though it is not that common, but yes, rats do indeed crawl up the sewer line and can also crawl into a toilet bowl. Our mechanics have encountered numerous jobs where they found rats in the sewer line but almost always they found dead rats. The above videos are taken directly from YouTube.com and are NOT produced by A$49.95 Any Sewer or Drain, Inc. Please comment on the post and email us your questions. We will gladly answer any of your questions related to sewer and drain clogs.

Thank You

Clogged sewer is a problem that people want to avoid, since a clogged sewer means, smell and sewage. The following video shows that a clogged sewer line can build up quite a bit of a pressure. In this case, the sewer back caused water to backup into the back yard, floor drains, basement shower and the basement toilet. If the mechanics had not kept his hands on the cap, the sewer water probably would have been all over him. It is very important to be careful while opening the sewer caps. In rare cases you can get injured if you get hit by the sewer cap.

There are many reasons why a sewer or a toilet line can get clogged and YES tampons do clog toilets and sewers. Most of the time our customers are more than interested in knowing what exactly clogged their sewer line. Clogs such as roots, napkins, paper towels and tampons wrap around the sewer cleaning cable and customers see it themselves. Many customers bring up point, “these wipes are flushable” or “these tampons are flushable”. We do not doubt the intention of the manufacturers but the fact is that flushable wipes and tampons do cause sewer clogs.
Though there are variety of tampon related products on the market, recently one outstanding product was brought to our attention called SCENSIBLES. Upon seeking further details about the product we found it to be a good additional option for our customers.Using this product can give you an additional option to dispose tampons.

SCENSIBLES are personal size biodegradable plastic bags with a pleasant fresh scent, contemporary design, tie handle closure and built in antimicrobial agents to inhibit the growth of odor causing bacteria. The bags are dispensed from a refillable units that mount to the stall partition in any size restroom. They provide an easy and clean alternative to flushing tampons as well as other feminine care products down the toilet.

The Company co-founded by Ann Germanow and her husband John Germanow. According to Ann, “my inspiration occurred several years ago in the female restroom in my workplace. One day a sign appeared, “Ladies: Do not flush tampons down the toilet-we can not afford the plumbing bills!”. The alternative disposal method found in most female public restrooms, metal or plastic disposal units attached to the partition walls, are unsightly, malodorous and germ-contaminated. This was unacceptable to me and I knew there had to be a better way! After conducting extensive market research and product development, SCENSIBLES®; single-use scented feminine hygiene disposal bags, were created.”
Ann gives further detail about her very first client, “Our very first customer for SCENSIBLES was a local property management group. They immediately recognized the potential benefit for their properties; as they had recently spent over $5000.00 to repair the plumbing system in a medical office building. The culprit-TAMPONS-which (as I’m sure you are aware) swell to 10x their size and often get stuck on rough inside surfaces of pipes! As the Property Manager soon reported “I see the bags are being used, so the way I look at it, every tampon not flushed is a success story!” Since installing SCENSIBLES in all their properties over three years, they have not had one clog caused by tampons. Since 2005 we have sold SCENSIBLES to commercial, public, recreational, educational, retail and institutional facilities across the country. Recently we introduced new consumer packages of SCENSIBLES for home-use. Currently the boxes (containing 50 bags) are available only on-line.”
For more information about the product, you can visit them by clicking here.

Toilet Paper

Many customers ask us about the type of toilet paper they should use. Technically speaking, if your toilet bowl and your sewer lines are powerful and large enough to handle any type of toilet paper then, by all means use any type of toilet paper. But if your toilet does not have a power flush (majority of toilet bowls are not power flush bowls) and your sewer is a normal size sewer (normally household and many commercial sewer lines are 4″-6″ in diameter) than you should really be careful with what goes down your toilet. keep in mind, it may be able to flush down the toilet bowl but it can very well end up clogging your sewer system.
Using a single ply toilet paper is recommended because the tissue dissolves in water and is easily carried through the sewer system. Thicker toilet papers, wipes, napkins, paper towels etc may be able able to pass through the toilet sometimes, without clogging it, but if a number of such items make their way into the sewer line, they can clog up the sewer line.
We can’t recommend any particular brand, but if you want to reduce the chances of having a clog in your sewer or your toilet, then use a single ply toilet paper. We had conducted a survey about the biggest reason why toilets get clogged. Our mechanics found that mostly thick toilet paper and “flushable” wipes are the a major reason.
Customers who followed our advice and changed their toilet paper to a single ply toilet paper saw a reduced toilet and sewer back-ups. We hope you have reduced toilet and sewer back-ups, but if you ever have a toilet or a sewer backup, you can always call us. We are available to serve you in Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Nassau and Suffolk 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Have you had a slow drain kitchen sink or a slow flushing toilet bowl? What is the first thing you try to solve the issue. Do you try chemicals, do you try hot water, do you call a sewer and drain cleaning company? We’ll, many people might use a chemical first, which mostly never works. What many people don’t use right away is the notorious plunger. There are so many types of plungers out there, which one do you thing is good? We’ll, maybe we can help you choose a solid and powerful plunger that can help you in times when you do not want to wait for a plumber or a sewer or drain mechanic. Avoid pouring chemicals down your toilet, it wont help. Here is our pick for a good plunger.

This type of plunger is cheap and does the job very well too. If you do not own an auger or a toilet snake or you don’t want to use a toilet snake, you can easily use a plunger and unclog your toilet bowl. In many cases it takes less than a few minutes to plunge the toilet and unclog it. This type of plunger is also helpful in plunging bathtubs and sinks. The plunger probably has a higher success rate than that of trying chemicals or hot water. It definitely is the cheapest option as well. If you are not able to unclog the toilet because there is more to the clog than you originally thought than simply give us a call and have us take care of your clog.

Toilet Bowl Clogged!

Recently, one of our servicemen was dispatched to a customers house located in Port Washington on Long Island. The customer had dropped his cell phone in his toilet bowl. The cell phone was small enough to slip into the toilet bowl but still could not make it out of the toilet bowl. The customer had tried plunging and pumping the toilet bowl but did not succeed. He called us and asked us specifically if we will be careful and not sratch his toilet bowl. We love to go an extra mile to keep our customers happy but respecting our customers property is a top priority by default.
The toilet bowl was very expensive and any mistake on the part of our mechanic could let us down. Our mechanic analyzed the situation and informed the customer that the toilet needed to be removed and explained to the customer the reason why the bowl needed to come off. The customer wanted assurance from his plumber and gave us the green signal once his plumber agreed with our mechanic.
Our serviceman retrieved the cell phone and placed the toilet bowl back in its place. The customer called back especially to compliment the professional service provided by our mechanic. According to the customer, “My toilet is working great and I can’t even tell if the bowl was ever removed. I am pleased with the professional service provided by your mechanic.”

To avoid dropping objects in your toilet by mistake, you can follow these tips.

Keep small objects away from the toilet bowl.

Keep the toilet take clear of all objects.

Keep the toilet seat cover down when not in use.

If something does fall in the bowl, don’t try to flush it. Flushing the object will either result in the object getting stuck in your toilet bowl or it may clog up your sewer line.

Recently, a wave of copy cat sewer and drain companies have flooded the NYC area. These copy cat companies claim to be Any Sewer or Drain and even advertise with that name. Our customers call us by our name and our name, logo and the slogan are trademarked. $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain is the Only Original $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain. Our trucks are white in color and have a distinct and visible yellow spalsh.
A few of our customers have sent us written complaints with proof about these “other” sewer and drain companies that claim to be $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain. We do not object to other sewer and drain companies servicing our customers, but we do object to other sewer and drain companies claiming to be $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain. We love our customers and cannot see them being over charged in the name of $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain. We would like to appeal to our customers to not fall prey to these unregistered and unlicensed sewer and drain companies and to always look for the yellow splash on the white trucks for the original $49.95 Any Sewer or Drain.
