The great city of New York has a sophisticated 311 system to report and follow up on non-emergency complaints. In the sewer and drain business we run into many situations where our customers get affected by the city sewer backing up into their home. To file a complaint for city sewer backing up into your house or any other non-emergency complaint do the following.
Dial 311 and lodge your complaint. The representatives at 311 are extremely professional and will listen to your complaint and forward you to the appropriate department and will give a complaint number. Keep that complaint number as you can use it to follow up on your complaint.
To follow up on your complaint, you can call 311 again or you can visit http://www.nyc.gov and click the 311 link on the lower right corner. You can follow up on your complaint or you can submit a picture or a video of your complaint.
